Bio

Bill McIntyre is a master strategist, blending new and traditional communications tactics on behalf of products, causes and companies. At Edelman, he leads the digital and traditional grassroots efforts on behalf of several leading companies, organizations and associations. His work cover the US, Canada, and the EU.

Prior to joining Edelman, he served as chief national spokesman for the National Rifle Association where he regularly determined communications strategy and conducted more than 5,000 national, international and local news interviews per year. He appeared regularly on ABC World News Tonight, CBS Evening News and many other broadcast news outlets. He was customarily quoted in The New York Times, the Associated Press, and nearly every major daily in the country. He frequently debated issues with elected officials including Governors, U.S. Senators, and U.S. Representatives.

Bill has led some of the most successful cause-communications programs, earning accolades from The Washington Post and The Wall Street Journal and winning national recognition from PR Week, The Holmes Report, the American Association of Political Consultants and the Institute for Politics, Democracy and the Internet.

Bill joined Edelman through the firm’s acquisition of Grassroots Enterprise (GRE), a bi-partisan grassroots communications firm specializing in creative digital and traditional engagement strategies, where he served as executive vice president and later, CEO. Bill continues to lead the award-winning team in engagement strategies for the firm’s clients.

Prior to GRE, Bill was a senior executive with Burson Marsteller's Direct Impact grassroots firm, where he ran major national grassroots communications programs for “challenged industries” and Fortune 100 corporations.

As the senior client contact for multiple Fortune 500 clients including; Disney, Philip Morris Corp., Visa, Halliburton and Medtronic he routinely provided strategic counsel to senior executives, senior management and the c-suite.

A former journalist, Bill is an award-winning reporter and columnist. He received his bachelor’s degree from Columbia University in New York.
