Volodymyr Babich is an associate professor of Operations and Information Management at the McDonough School of Business, Georgetown University. He earned his Ph.D. in Operations Research from Case Western Reserve University, Weatherhead School of Management, in 2003. He also holds M.S. degrees in Management Science and Mathematics, both from Case Western Reserve University, as well as a B.S. in Applied Mathematics from Kiev Polytechnic Institute. Prior to joining Georgetown University, he was an assistant professor at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Industrial and Operations Engineering department. His other professional experiences include a logistics engineer position at Penske Logistics. His research interests are the interface of operations and finance, supply risk management, supply chain management, stochastic modeling, and risk management. His research has been supported by grants from the National Science Foundation, University of Michigan, and industry. His work has been published in top-tier Operations Research, Operations Management, and Industrial Engineering journals. Volodymyr Babich has served on editorial boards of Management Science and Production and Operations Management. He has been a reviewer for a number of panels (including NSF panels), conferences, and competitions. In addition to serving as a cluster chair for INFORMS and POMS conferences, he was on organizing committees for two “Interface of Finance, Operations, and Risk Management (iFORM)” conferences and was one of the organizers of the workshop/conference on the “Integrated Risk Management in Operations Global Supply Chain Management: Risk, Contracts, and Insurance,” in Ann Arbor, MI, 2006. He has served as the Founding Chair of the MSOM Special Interests Group on the “Interface of Finance, Operations, and Risk Management (iFORM)” and as the MSOM Secretary and Treasurer. He is the current iFORM SIG chair.
