Bio

Joseph Timpone is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Infectious Disease of the Department of Medicine. He is also the Associate Program Director of Research of the Residency Program in the Department of Medicine and a member of the Center for Infectious Disease (CID). His specialty is in infectious diseases. His special interests include general infectious diseases, HIV disease and antiretroviral therapy, and neurological manifestations of AIDS. He is a site co-PI, and is a key personnel of the GUH-CTU. He develops the scientific agenda and coordinates the research activities of the Division of Infectious Diseases at GUH. He assists Dr. Kumar with the scientific leadership and is chairman of the Research committee, which is responsible for reviewing all protocols which will be performed at the GUH-CTU. He works closely with Dr. Kumar and the nursing personnel to address protocol based patient care related issues, as well as regulatory/IRB issues. He assists the study coordinator and research personnel with the educational aspects of the Community Advisory Board (CAB).
