Thomas DeLeire is professor of public policy. His research focuses on labor and health economics. From 2014 to 2016, he was a Senior Advisor in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. His most recent work has comprised an evaluation of recent expansions to Wisconsin’s health insurance programs for low-income families. DeLeire has twice taken leave from his university appointments to work in government. From 2005 to 2007, he was a senior analyst at the Congressional Budget Office, and from 2002 to 2003, he was senior economist for labor, health, and education for the Council of Economic Advisers.
