Bio
Peter Hinrichs began as Assistant Professor in the Georgetown Public Policy Institute in Fall 2007 after receiving his Ph.D. in Economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He also holds a B.A. in Economics and Mathematics from the University of California, Berkeley. His research interests fall under the area of applied microeconomics and, more specifically, the economics of education. Recent projects include a historical evaluation of the National School Lunch Program, a study of the effects of college diversity on income and civic behavior, and a study of the effects of statewide affirmative action bans on college enrollment. He is currently working on a study of the effects of high school starting times on academic achievement and a study of "minority mismatch" in higher education. At GPPI he teaches Intro to Microtheory, School Quality and Public Policy, and School Choice and Accountability.
