Bio

Joseph Neale is Professor of Biology in the Department of Biology. His research focuses on the neurobiology of pain perception and schizophrenia. His group has pioneered research over the past two decades that has demonstrated that N-acetylaspartylglutamate (NAAG) is the 3rd most prevalent transmitter in the nervous system. Working with colleagues, this group has made significant progress in the development of completely novel drug therapies for inflammatory pain and schizophrenia in animal models.
