Bio
Dr. Karen Kesten is is an assistant professor of nursing within the Department of Nursing at Georgetown University School of Nursing & Health Studies (NHS). Dr. Kesten is the Director of the Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner and Clinical Nurse Specialist graduate programs.
Dr. Kesten received a Doctor of Nursing Practice from the University of Maryland. She received a master’s degree in nursing from The Catholic University of America and a post-master’s certificate in nursing education from the University of Maryland.
Prior to joining the faculty, Dr. Kesten worked as a clinical nurse specialist at Washington Adventist Hospital in Takoma Park, MD. Dr. Kesten is board certified as a critical care nurse (CCRN), progressive care nurse (PCCN), certified nurse educator (CNE) and an acute and critical care clinical nurse specialist (CCNS).
Dr. Kesten is a member of the American Association of Critical- Care Nurses and is currently an appointed member of the Board of Directors for the Certification Corporation of the American Association of Critical- Care Nurses.
