Bio

J.P. Hyatt, Ph.D., is currently assistant professor in the Department of Human Science at NHS. His expertise is in exercise physiology and skeletal muscle physiology, specifically in the topics of muscle damage/soreness and the processes that dictate muscle growth (hypertrophy) and loss (atrophy). Hyatt received his A.B in exercise science at Occidental College, M.S. in exercise science at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, and Ph.D. in molecular, cellular, and integrative physiology at UCLA. He has published in a variety of scientific journals including the FASEB Journal, American Journal of Physiology, Muscle and Nerve, and Medicine and Science in Sport and Exercise. At Georgetown, Hyatt teaches courses on anatomy and physiology, exercise physiology, and physiological adaptation.
