Bio

Professor George Comer has been on the faculty of Georgetown University's McDonough School of Business since 2001. His research focuses on the performance and behavior of institutional money managers. Past and current research projects have focused on hybrid mutual funds, exchange traded funds, municipal bond funds, international mutual funds, and unit investment trusts.

Professor Comer currently serves on the Georgetown University 403b Investment Advisory Committee. He also serves as a faculty advisor for the undergraduate SmartStart and BUILD programs. In addition, Professor Comer has been a member of the PhD Project Finance Doctoral Student Association since its inception and currently serves as a faculty advisor for the organization.

Professor Comer's past nonacademic work experience include the following: 1) chief academic officer/consultant for MutualDecision.com, 2) financial analyst for the finance and budget division of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority in NYC, and 3) intern with the domestic research and foreign research groups of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. He has also taught in the analyst training program for JP Morgan Chase and currently serves as the finance instructor for the training program at First Manhattan Consulting Group.

In 2006, Professor Comer was awarded the Robert E. McDonough School of Business Joseph LeMoine Award for Undergraduate and Graduate Teaching Excellence.
