Desha M Girod

Professor Girod specializes in civil conflict, financial flows to developing countries, and colonial institutions. Her research appears or is forthcoming in the American Journal of Political Science, Comparative Political Studies, Conflict Management and Peace Science, and the Journal of North African Studies. Professor Girod is currently working on a book on whether foreign aid helps socioeconomic reconstruction following civil war. She is a faculty affiliate of Georgetown's African Studies Program and a member of the Executive Committee of Georgetown's Center for Latin American Studies. Professor Girod received her Ph.D. in Political Science from Stanford. She also held a postdoctoral fellowship at Stanford's Center on Democracy, Development, and the Rule of Law.
