Canan Ulu researches Bayesian learning in sequential decision problems, decision making under multiple criteria and improving decision analysis methods using behavioral decision theory. Her work has been published in Operations Research, Management Science and Psychological Science.

Dr. Ulu comes to Georgetown University from the McCombs School of Business at the University of
Texas at Austin, where she was an assistant professor in the information, risk, and operations management department. She taught courses in business analytics, decision modeling, and elementary business statistics and, in 2011, was the recipient of the school’s MBA Applause Award for excellence in teaching. She also has taught courses in decision making and decision models at Duke University’s economics department and engineering school. At Georgetown, she teaches Management Science in the undergraduate program and Analytical Problem Solving in the MBA program.

From 2010 to 2013, Dr. Ulu has served as a council member of the Decision Analysis Society and also now sits on its journal’s editorial board. She serves as an associate editor for decision analysis area at IIE Transactions and is also a senior editor for Production and Operations Management.
