Bio

I am interested in Latin American literature of all time periods, places and genres. My research is mostly comparative in nature, as I often work within hemispheric, transatlantic and transpacific contexts.

I specialize in literature written in Spanish outside Spain and Latin America, such as in Africa (Equatorial Guinea), Asia (the Philippines) and North America. I also work on popular music by such writers as Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen and Mark Knopfler.

Courses I am teaching now or have taught recently have focused on such topics as Caribbean literature, indigenous and indigenist literature, Andean literature, modern Mexican literature, and contemporary Latin American novels.
