Bio

Professor Yang is Professor in the Department of Chemistry. Professor Yang was born at Urumqi, China, grew up in Taiwan, came to The United States in 1969, obtained his Ph. D. in the Department of Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry at Yale University in 1973, and was a research associate at The Rockefeller University till 1975. Professor Yang joined the Chemistry Department at Georgetown in 1975. He has trained over twenty five Ph. D. students at Georgetown and published in top-tier biochemistry journals in areas ranging from tRNA conformation, multienzyme complexes, post-translational modifications, to genomics, proteomics and combinatorial chemistry. His research has been supported by NIH, NSF, DARPA and US Army. He has served on the University Rank and Tenure Committee, federal and international review panels, and as an expert witness to U. S. Congress. He is married to Linda Yang, has two sons, Stephen and Alan, and one grandson, Tyler.
