Edward Walter brings a wealth of experience to Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business. In addition to his role as a faculty member at Georgetown, he is also Chief Executive Officer and President of Host Hotels & Resorts, Inc., the nation’s largest lodging real estate company.

Mr. Walter has been President and Chief Executive Officer and served on the Board of Directors of Host Hotels & Resorts since October 2007. He joined the Company in 1996 as Senior Vice President for Acquisitions, and held a variety of positions, including Chief Financial Officer. Prior to joining the Company, Mr. Walter was a partner with Trammell Crow Residential Company and the President of Bailey Capital Corporation.

He currently serves on the Board of Directors of AvalonBay Communities, Inc. and is a member of its Compensation Committee and is the Chairman of the Investment and Finance Committee. He also serves as a member of the Executive Board and serves as Past Chair of the National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts. He is also on the board of The Real Estate Roundtable, and serves as an officer on the board of the Federal City Council. In addition, Mr. Walter serves on the board and is the Past Chairman of the National Kidney Foundation, and is on the board of the Friendship Public Charter School, the largest charter school system in the District of Columbia.
