Astrid Weigert has been a Visiting Assistant Professor at the Department since the fall of 1999.
Research interests include questions of gender and genre in 19th century German literature, in particular in Romanticism (Dorothea Schlegel) and Naturalism (Elsa Bernstein, pseud. Ernst Rosmer; women translators in the 18th and 19th centuries; as well as curriculum and course development with an emphasis on the advanced learner and German business culture.
Since 2004, Astrid Weigert has been the Book Review Editor for "The German Quarterly."
As of March 2011, Astrid Weigert has been elected to a three-year term as the "German Area Director" for the Northeast Modern Language Association (NeMLA).
