Bio

Astrid Weigert joined the Department as a faculty member in the fall of 1999 and was promoted to Teaching Professor in 2015.

Research interests include:

Gender and genre in 18th and 19th century German literature, in particular in Romanticism (Dorothea Schlegel) and Naturalism (Elsa Bernstein, pseud. Ernst Rosmer);

Women translators in the 18th and 19th centuries;

Curriculum and course development with an emphasis on the advanced learner and German business culture.
