Bio

Thomas Sherman, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Physiology and Biophysics. An neuroendocrinologist, he is interested in the study of endocrine hormones in the central nervous system and the pituitary. He studies a mechanism called stimulus-secretion-transcription coupling, a process in which the transcription activity of a gene is coupled to, and regulated by, the secretory activity of the neuron. He is especially interested in vasopressin and oxytocin, neuroendorine hormones synthesized within neurons of the brain.
