Dr. Van Atta is Senior Research Analyst at the Institute for Defense Analyses. He was an official in the Department of Defense as Special Assistant for Dual Use Technology Policy and as Assistant Deputy Under Secretary for Dual Use and Commercial Programs. He has taught courses in national security policy and analysis at American University’s School of International Service and worked in the private sector.
