Bio

Paasha Mahdavi is an Assistant Professor at the McCourt School of Public Policy. His research interests are comparative political economy, political methodology, and energy politics. Paasha is currently writing a book manuscript on the relationship between petroleum and governance as mediated by oil-related institutions. Some of his other projects include the political economy of gasoline prices; political consequences of oil-to-cash transfers; statistical network analysis of elites in authoritarian contexts; and transnational prosecutions of oil-related corruption. Paasha holds an M.S. in statistics and a Ph.D. in political science from UCLA.
