Bio
Since 2005 I have been a full-time visiting member of the Department of History at Georgetown University. I spent most of my previous career as a university administrator, serving as Associate Dean and Director of Undergraduate Studies in the School of Foreign Service, Georgetown University and as Senior Lecturer in History and Assistant Dean in the Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences, Northwestern University.
My writing and teaching focuses on material culture and the history of ideas in Europe since 1500, with a particular interest in the transformation of cooking, eating, drinking, and sociability surrounding food in ancient regime France.
