T/TH 6:00-6:30pm and by appointment
Nina Billone Prieur joined the Theater and Performance Studies faculty as Visiting Assistant Professor in January, 2012. She is a scholar-artist who works at the intersection of performance and social justice. Performance in this context encompasses a wide array of cultural activities—from theatrical productions and art exhibitions to community-based workshops, popular movements, and the performances of everyday life. She holds a PhD in Performance Studies from the University of California at Berkeley with a Designated Emphasis in Women, Gender and Sexuality. Her research integrates performance theory, activist and community-based theater, women of color and transnational feminisms, and ethnography and oral history. As a director and dramaturg, she specializes in ensemble performance and the adaptation of literature, oral history, and other nontraditional texts for the stage.
