Research
Most of my research has been in the area of medieval philosophy, especially the early 14th century. There is much happening in this area today as we come to know more and more of the many people involved in developing the philosophy and theology of this exciting period. I have specialized in Duns Scotus and some of his early followers. I have particularly worked on producing from the 14th-century manuscripts found in various European libraries a critical edition of the writings of Henry of Harclay (died 1317), a key figure in the transition from realism to nominalism in that period. Having produced this two-volume critical edition and translation of his works, I would now like to write a book on his thought.
