After graduating from high school in Cleveland, I joined the Jesuit order and soon started moving around. I studied theology for three years in Rome and this opened me up to a global dimension I had never imagined. After that I came back to the States and started studying for my doctorate in philosophy at the University of California in Los Angeles. After earning the doctorate, my first job was at Loyola University in Chicago in the philosophy department, where I pursued my main interests in medieval philosopohy and the philosophy of religion. Then I was asked by my Jesuit superiors if I would be interested in helping to start up a school for African young men who were in the process of becoming Jesuits. So I jumped at the chance to live and work in Zimbabwe for four years, a great experience, getting away from the States and the West for a while. Then I returned to the States, lived and worked at the University of Detroit Mercy, teaching among other things African philosophy. Then I spent a year and a half teaching symbolic logic in Italian over in Rome at the Gregorian Universty. Now I am back in the States at Georgetown University, and I plan to stay put.
