Bio
Mustafa Aksakal is an historian of the modern Middle East. He specializes in the history of the late Ottoman empire (19-20C) and the Turkish Republic. He recently held fellowships from the National Endowment for the Humanities, the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton, and the American Council of Learned Societies. In 2012 and 2014 he co-directed NEH faculty seminars on World War I in the Middle East and North Africa.
