Bio

Dr. Karen Kesten is is an assistant professor of nursing within the Department of Nursing at Georgetown University School of Nursing & Health Studies (NHS. Dr. Kesten is the Program Director for the Acute and Critical Care Clinical Nurse Specialist and Acute Care Nurse Practitioner graduate programs and teaches complex problems in the undergraduate nursing program.

She has a master’s degree in nursing from The Catholic University of America and a post-master’s certificate in nursing education from the University of Maryland. Dr. Kesten completed her Doctorate of Nursing Practice at the University of Maryland.

Prior to joining the faculty, Dr. Kesten worked as a clinical nurse specialist at Washington Adventist Hospital in Takoma Park, MD. Dr. Kesten is board certified as a critical care nurse (CCRN), progressive care nurse (PCCN) and critical care clinical nurse specialist (CCNS.

Dr. Kesten is a member of the American Association of Critical Care Nurses and is currently an elected member of the national nominating committee for the organization.
