Kathryn K. Ellis, DNP, APRN, FNP-BC, ANP-BC, is an assistant professor of nursing within the Department of Nursing at Georgetown University School of Nursing & Health Studies. Ellis has been the program director for the Family Nurse Practitioner Program since 2007.
Ellis is board certified as both a family and adult nurse practitioner and maintains a practice along with her teaching responsibilities at Georgetown University. In 2010, she collaborated with Arlington Street People Assistance Network (A-SPAN) to an advanced practice nursing presence in Arlington, Virginia. She provides primary health care services to homeless residents of the winter shelter.
Ellis is an active member of the National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties and served former President of the Northern Virginia Council of Nurse Practitioners and on the Board of Directors of Capital Center AHEC from 2008-2011. She has presented nationally on advanced practice nursing education topics including advanced health assessment, standardized patients and genetic family risk assessment.
Ellis was awarded the Georgetown University Medical Center Faculty Achievement Award in 2011 for her contributions in developing and implementing Georgetown University’s first-ever online degree program – a graduate-level nursing program.
