Dr. Husbands is a Scholar/Senior Project Director the U.S. National Academy of Sciences (NAS), specializing in international security and
weapons and technology issues. She currently works for the Board on Life Sciences, focusing on biosecurity. She is the former director of the
NAS Committee on International Security and Arms Control, and served as the director of the Development, Security, and Cooperation Program.
Before joining the NAS, Dr. Husbands worked for several Washington,DC-based nongovernmental organizations. She is a member of the Global
Agenda Council on Illicit Trade of the World Economic Forum, and the International Institute for Strategic Studies. She is on the Honor Roll
of Women in International Security, and a Fellow of the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry.
