Bio
J.P. Hyatt, Ph.D., is currently associate professor in the Department of Human Science in the School of Nursing and Health Studies. Dr. Hyatt's research interests include exercise physiology and skeletal muscle plasticity, specifically in the topics of muscle damage/soreness and the processes that dictate muscle growth (hypertrophy) and loss (atrophy). Hyatt received his A.B in Exercise Science at Occidental College, M.S. in Exercise Science at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, and Ph.D. in Molecular, Cellular, and Integrative Physiology at UCLA. He has published in a variety of scientific journals including the FASEB Journal, American Journal of Physiology, Muscle and Nerve, and Medical Education. At Georgetown, Dr. Hyatt teaches Physiological Adaptations, Exercise Physiology, The Language of Health and Disease, and Research and Communication in Science and Healthcare.
