Bio

John F. Wallenhorst, Ph.D. is Vice President, Mission and Ethics for Bon Secours Health System, Inc., a not-for-profit Catholic health system of 20,000 caregivers serving people in 10 communities in seven states. He is responsible for oversight of the organization’s Mission Department and Ethics Program, coordination of Mission activities, including advocacy and public policy, community benefit, clinical and organizational ethics, socially responsible investing, pastoral care and ecological stewardship, and leadership development around mission, ethics and values leadership competencies.

Dr. Wallenhorst holds advanced degrees in philosophy and theology, including a Ph.D. in systematic theology from the University of Toronto (St. Michael’s College). He also holds a Masters of Science in organization development from the Johns Hopkins University. His areas of professional interest include values-based leadership development, ethics integration, Catholic social teaching and mission effectiveness.
