Steven Epstein is the Chair, and a Professor, of the Department of Psychiatry. For ten years prior to becoming the Department Chair, he directed the Consultation-Liason service and the Medical Illness Program of the Department of Psychiatry, and now continues as a Consultation-Liason Psychiatrist. He is interested in the evaluation and treatment of the psychiatric problems of the physically ill and provides mental health treatment to those with chronic medical problems. His specialties are in the fields of psychosomatic medicine and depression in the medically ill. He is also the principal investigator for Physician's decisions for the depressed medically ill and is involved in the general adult outpatient program.
