Dr. Schiavone has years of experience in nursing practice and education. She is currently certified as an adult advanced practice psychiatric nurse, and also as a child and adolescent advanced practice nurse. She has 17 years experience in private practice in Northern Virginia specializing in diagnosis and treatment of psychiatric disorders.Her areas of research are in trauma,community violence, and identity development.
