Bio

Claudia Kinkela is a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Government at Georgetown University and an Assistant Professor at the University of Cologne, Germany. She was a Visiting Professor at Duke University in 1995-1996.

She received her Ph.D. from the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg in 1998. Her fields of research and teaching include: Political Philosophy (especially Aristotle, Hannah Arendt, and Tocqueville),
Constitutional Theory, German Politics and Government, German History, Nazism and Holocaust.

Her publications include the 2001 book Dolf Sternberger's Idea of Citizenship in German Political Contemporary Thought (in German).

Her current book project entitled "Truth and Lies in Politics" examines the philosophical foundations of the political discourse from Plato through Machiavelli to Foucault and the reality of truth and lies in contemporary political scandals.
