Bio

Ellen Callinan was with the Washington law firm of Crowell & Moring LLP from 1985 to 2000, serving as Manager of Research Services then as Web Master. She joined the library staff at the Georgetown Law Library as Web Services Coordinator in 2001 and has been Acting Head of the Electronic Resources and Services section since 2002. She has extensive experience in designing and teaching legal research programs, including training for the D.C. Bar, Practicing Law Institute, and the Institute for Continuing Legal Education, as well as Crowell & Moring clients, attorneys and staff. Ms. Callinan founded the Research Instruction Caucus, an AALL coalition of academic and private sector librarians, created the National Legal Research Teach-In, an annual event held every April since 1993, and edited the AALL response to the MacCrate Report entitled, "Core Legal Research Competencies." She has lectured throughout the United States and in Australia on legal research training, has written numerous articles on the topic, and was on the editorial board of Perspectives: Teaching Legal Research and Writing (West) for nine years.
