Bio

William Blattner (Ph.D., University of Pittsburgh, 1989) is the author of Heidegger's "Being and Time:" A Reader's Guide (Continuum Books, 2006) and Heidegger's Temporal Idealism (Cambridge University of Press, 1999). His current research focus is an investigation of Heidegger's conception of human historicality and the implications it has for the historical sciences, and a book length construction of a debate between the early Heidegger and the American pragmatists, esp. John Dewey, centered upon the priority of practice over cognition.

Professor Blattner's teaching interests have focused on modern German philosophy, American pragmatism, and existentialism.
