Bio

Paul Betz is Professor in the Department of English.

His research and teaching interests include: Wordsworth and the Wordsworth circle; 19th Century literature; lyric poetry; textual
scholarship (editing, bibliography and literary forgery).

He earned his Ph.D. and M.A. from Cornell University and B.A. from La Salle College.

Publications he has written include: Cornell Wordsworth edition of Benjamin the Waggoner (1981, revised 1989); "After the Lyrical Ballads: Wordsworth and Coleridge in 1801-1802" (1973); "Wordsworth's First Acquaintance with Blake's Poetry" (1970); (with Jonathan Wordsworth and Robert Metzger) British Romantic Art (1990); "Pictures for a Revolution: Ten Contemporary Images" (in Wordsworth in Context, 1992). Romantic Archaeologies (1995); Advisory Editor, The Friend: Comment on Romanticism; William Wordsworth and the Romantic Imagination (2000).

He has received the following honors, grants and awards: President, Wordsworth Trust America; Visiting Scholar, Cornell Society for the Humanities (Jan-June 2000).
