Andrew Sobanet is Chair and Associate Professor of the Department of French at Georgetown University. His research focuses primarily on the intersection of politics and literature. His research interests include the twentieth-century novel, the contemporary novel, autobiography, non-fiction film, feature film, and twentieth-century European history. He is the author of Jail Sentences: Representing Prison in Twentieth-Century French Fiction (U of Nebraska Press, 2008), and has published widely on Vichy France. Since 2011, he has been Associate Editor of the journal Contemporary French Civilization and is currently at work on a book on Stalinism in France.
