Bio

Andrew Sobanet is an Associate Professor in the Department of French and Francophone Studies at Georgetown University. His research focuses primarily on the intersection of politics and literature. His research interests include the twentieth-century novel, the contemporary novel, autobiography, non-fiction film, feature film, and twentieth-century history. He is the author of _Jail Sentences: Representing Prison in Twentieth-Century French Fiction_ (U of Nebraska Press, 2008), and has published widely on Vichy France. Since 2011, he has been Associate Editor of the journal Contemporary French Civilization and is currently at work on a book on Stalinism in France. He served as chair of the Department of French and Francophone studies from 2009 to 2015.
