A McCourt alumnus, Alex Engler is an adjunct professor in the McCourt School of Public Policy, where he teaches data visualization and data science as they relate to public policy. He is also currently a statistician at The Urban Institute, where he specializes in data visualization and big data analytics.

Previously, he has worked in data and policy at the Sunlight Foundation, the Congressional Research Service, and in D.C. local education policy. Alex graduated from American University with a B.A. in economics before earning a Master of Public Policy at Georgetown University and a Master of Science in Predictive Analytics at Northwestern University.
