Bio

Dr. Beck's research examines the interactions between the quality and content of accounting information, reporting incentives, and the cost of capital, with a focus on the governmental and nonprofit industries. Her research has been presented at numerous conferences and universities, and has received several grants, including a grant from the Governmental Accounting Standards Board to investigate the appropriateness of the going concern opinion guidance for governmental entities. While earning her Ph.D. at The University of Alabama, the American Accounting Association selected Beck to serve as the student representative at the Accounting and Finance Association of Australia and New Zealand’s annual conference in Tasmania, Australia.

Before pursuing her Ph.D., Beck was a CPA (inactive) in Alabama, and worked in the banking industry as a portfolio risk analyst.
