Location St Mary's Hall BioDr. Alemi is professor of health system administration at Georgetown University.
He has a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. He was a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation post doctoral fellow in health care finance at Johns Hopkins University. He has more than 25 years of experience in applying system analysis concepts to health care problems. His research has included pioneering areas such as: online management of patients, probabilistic risk analysis of sentinel adverse events, behavior change through system analysis, activity based costing of health care delivery systems, process improvement and electronic health records. George Mason University has applied for two patents based on the work of Dr. Alemi, one is on “assessment of severity of episodes of illness” and the other on “personalized medication benchmarks”. Dr. Alemi is an early adapter of open, multi-media online courses. His lectures are freely available on the web. He has published more than 50 articles and three books, including the widely used textbook on decision analysis for health care managers. He has provided congressional testimony on the role of the Internet in health care. Dr. Alemi is an active researcher whose work has been funded by National Institute of Drug Abuse, National Institute of Heart Lung and Blood, Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and various corporations.
