WHAT: Georgetown University School of Nursing & Health Studies (NHS), a part of Georgetown University Medical Center, will host Mary Wakefield, Ph.D., RN, FAAN, Administrator of the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, on Monday, Nov. 22, 2010, at 4 p.m.
As part of the school’s McAuley Lecture Series, Dr. Wakefield will deliver a lecture on, “The Affordable Care Act’s Impact on Primary Care and Health Professions.”
Dr. Wakefield was named HRSA administrator by President Barack Obama on Feb. 20, 2009. She joined the agency from the University of North Dakota (UND), where she was associate dean for rural health at the School of Medicine and Health Sciences, a tenured professor, and director of the university’s Center for Rural Health. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Nursing and a member of the Institute of Medicine. (To read her biography, click here.)
