Emergency Preparedness and Planning
Expert commentary by Michael Stoto
September 21, 2009

With the international focus on H1N1, commonly
known as swine flu, close attention is being paid to how well
communities respond to global crises, such as health-related
pandemics. Michael Stoto, professor of health systems administration
and population health at the School of Nursing & Health Studies,
discusses the lessons society has learned from the current H1N1
outbreak, his longtime research into emergency planning and
preparedness, and the ways he takes his experience back into the
classroom.
