Georgetown Hosts 2009 Trainor Lecture
Hon. Louise Arbour, President, International Crisis Group, to Receive Georgetown’s 2009 Trainor Award

The Honorable Louise Arbour became the President and CEO of the International Crisis Group in July 2009 after serving as United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights from 2004 to 2008. A Canadian national and former professor of law, Arbour was appointed by the United Nations Security Council in 1996 as Chief Prosecutor for the International Criminal Tribunals for the former Yugoslavia and for Rwanda. She previously served successively as a member of the Supreme Court of Ontario, the Court of Appeal for Ontario and the Supreme Court of Canada. She has received honorary doctorates from some thirty universities. |

The 28th Annual Trainor Award for Distinction in the Conduct of Diplomacy The Honorable Louise Arbour, President of the International Crisis Group, will receive the 2009 Trainor Award for distinction in the conduct of diplomacy. Following the award presentation, Hon. Arbour will give this year’s Trainor Lecture, “Society and Public Interest Diplomacy.” |
