“It is truly a special moment when you enter Healy Gates. You’re beginning a journey … We believe so strongly in this journey that we have dedicated our lives to joining you, to supporting you and to challenging you in this endeavor.”

President John J. DeGioia addressed the incoming class of 2013 at the New Student Convocation on August 30, 2009. The Convocation was part of the 2009 New Student Orientation. Over 1,500 new students gathered in McDonough Gymnasium to hear from university leaders and celebrate the beginning of their college careers at Georgetown.
