Former Lockheed Martin Corporation Executive to Join Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business Faculty
Mary VanDeWeghe Brings More Than 25 Years of Financial Experience to Classroom

Washington, D.C. – Georgetown’s McDonough School of Business Dean George Daly announced the appointment of former Lockheed Martin executive Mary “Meg” VanDeWeghe as professor of the practice in finance.

As senior vice president for finance at Lockheed Martin from 2006 to 2009, VanDeWeghe was responsible for the company’s financial strategies and transactions related to corporate treasury and merger and acquisition activities. She also served as chairman of the board of Lockheed Martin Investment Management Company.

In addition to her experience as a corporate executive, VanDeWeghe has held academic appointments at several institutions, including the University of Maryland and Harvard University.

“Meg VanDeWeghe brings to Georgetown’s McDonough School of Business the right balance of experience as a high-ranking finance executive and has demonstrated excellence in teaching,” Daly said. “She will help prepare our students to become leaders in today’s challenging business environment.”

VanDeWeghe served as chief executive officer and president of Forte Consulting Inc. from 1996 to 2006. At Forte, she consulted on mergers and acquisitions; optimal capital structure; capital markets; investment management; equity research; corporate governance; and general strategies to enhance shareholder value. Her clients included Marriott, Entergy, Aetna, Legg Mason and the World Bank, among others.

During her time with Forte, she also served as an executive-in-residence and finance professor at the University of Maryland’s Smith School of Business, where she taught graduate-level courses in investment management, equity analysis, corporate finance and entrepreneurship.

Additionally, she has been a guest lecturer at Harvard, Yale University, Princeton University, Dartmouth College, Stanford University, Smith College, Wellesley College, the University of California Los Angeles, the University of Virginia, University of Chicago and the University of Sydney.

VanDeWeghe began her career at J.P. Morgan and Company in 1983, rising to the position of managing director and reporting to the chairman’s office. She worked in a variety of areas throughout the firm including investment banking, capital markets and general management.

“I look forward to joining the McDonough School of Business community,” VanDeWeghe said. “It is an honor to join such a distinguished faculty and to have the opportunity to teach such exceptional students. I hope that my experience in Corporate America and on Wall Street is valuable to the students who are preparing to launch careers in finance.”

VanDeWeghe holds a MBA in finance from Dartmouth College’s Amos Tuck School of Business and a bachelor’s in economics from Smith College. She serves on the board of directors for Brown Advisory, an asset management company.
