Interpreting the Middle East 'Against the Grain'
An interview with Michael Oren
March 30, 2009

Dr. Michael B. Oren was born in New Jersey, but he later served in the Israeli Army, and he was the director of Inter-Religious Affairs in the government of Yitzhak Rabin. Besides his work as a visiting professor in Georgetown’s School of Foreign Service, he is a scholar and bestselling author, he testifies before Congress and briefs the White House, and he is the CBS Middle East expert.  Today he discusses his role as an “against the grain” interpreter of the Middle East for Westerners.
