Tavis Smiley will discuss his new book, Accountable: Making America As Good As Its Promise. The town hall style event is part of his 10 city tour of to promote the book. A book signing will follow.
Accountable provides real-life examples of how crucial issues — including health care, education, the economy, unequal justice, and the environment — manifest themselves in our communities. The book demonstrates the urgent need to hold politicians and ourselves responsible, arguing that the stakes have never been higher. Accountable revisits each of the ten covenants discussed in Smiley’s The Covenant with Black America, and features “A Framework for Assessment” which outlines solutions offered to political leaders, policymakers, corporations, non-profit organizations, community leaders and finally, individual citizens, to move toward effecting change. |
