Michael Oren is a professor in the Program for Jewish Civilization in the Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University. An expert on the diplomatic and military history of the Middle East, Oren is the author of New York Time bestsellers Six Days of War: June 1967 and the Making of the Modern Middle East (Oxford University Press 2002) and his most recent book Power, Faith, and Fantasy: America in the Middle East, 1776 to the Present (W. W. Norton & Company 2007). Oren has received fellowships from the U.S. Departments of State and Defense, and has testified before Congress on Middle Eastern affairs and briefed the White House. |

A Lecture by Michael Oren: The Gaza Crisis from an Historical Perspective During the most recent Israel–Gaza conflict, Oren was activated as a reserve officer of the Israel Defense Force and served as a media relations officer. Oren will be discussing the Gaza crisis from an historical perspective. |
