David Brooks and E.J. Dionne to Discuss Christian Realism and American Politics at Georgetown University
WHO:

David Brooks is a columnist for The New York Times and a commentator on The Newshour with Jim Lehrer. He is the author several books including "Bobos In Paradise: The New Upper Class and How They Got There" and "On Paradise Drive: How We Live Now (And Always Have) in the Future Tense."

E.J. Dionne is a professor at the Georgetown Public Policy Institute, a senior fellow at The Brookings Institution and a columnist for The Washington Post writing on national policy and politics. He is the author of several books including "Why Americans Hate Politics," "They Only Look Dead: Why Progressives Will Dominate the Next Political Era" and "Stand Up Fight Back: Republican Toughs, Democratic Wimps, and the Politics of Revenge."

Krista Tippett is the host and producer of Speaking of Faith, public radio's weekly program about religion, meaning, ethics, and ideas currently heard on over 200 public radio stations across the U.S. and globally via the Web and podcast.

WHAT:
The Legacy of Reinhold Niebuhr and the Future of Christian Realism

David Brooks and E.J. Dionne, Jr. will discuss the lasting impact of Reinhold Niebuhr and Christian Realism on American political and theological ideas. They will reflect upon the past presidential election and the future problems and dilemmas facing the new administration, in light of Obama citing Niebuhr's influence on his own ideas about politics and governance. Public radio host Krista Tippett will moderate the discussion, and portions of the program will appear on her weekly show, Speaking of Faith.
