Georgetown Hosts 2008 Presidential Election Roundtable

WHAT:

Georgetown's Tocqueville Forum on the Roots of American Democracy will host experts in a discussion titled, “2008 Presidential Election and the Future of the American Republic." Questions for the participants include: What is the future of conservatism? Of liberalism? What does the election of Barack Obama indicate about the contours of the various electoral coalitions that drive the nation's politics? How will both political parties respond to the election? How do the results fit into broader cultural and historical trends? What does the election mean in terms of intellectual history and political theory – specifically, what foundational ideas played a role in the election?
