Georgetown to Host Bob Shrum and David Frum for Discussion about the 2008 Presidential Elections

WHO:

Bob Shrum is a Democratic strategist who has advised numerous political campaigns including the party’s 2000 and 2004 bids for the White House. Since 1985, he has advised 30 successful U.S. Senate campaigns, eight winning campaigns for governor; the campaigns of numerous members of Congress and big-city mayors. As a journalist, Shrum’s work has appeared in The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, New York Magazine, Slate, The New Republic, and The Huffington Post. His book, “No Excuses: Concessions of a Serial Campaigner,” was published in June 2007 by Simon and Schuster. He has taught at Yale and Boston College and is currently a Senior Fellow at NYU’s Wagner School of Public Service.
David Frum is a resident fellow at the American Enterprise Institute. From 2001 through 2002, he served as a speechwriter and special assistant to President George W. Bush. Frum has authored five books, including two New York Times bestsellers: “The Right Man: The Surprise Presidency of George W. Bush” and “An End to Evil: What’s Next in the War on Terror,” which he co-authored with Richard Perle. He writes a daily column for National Review Online, appears regularly on CNN, Fox News, and the BBC, and is a frequent contributor to the editorial pages of The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and The Daily Telegraph. |

The U.S. Presidential Election: Issues and Implications
Democratic political strategist Bob Shrum and conservative journalist and author David Frum will face off in a discussion about the 2008 presidential election titled, "The U.S. Presidential Election: Issues and Implications." Georgetown professor and washingtonpost.com contributor Jacques Berlinerblau will moderate the discussion, which is sponsored by Georgetown University Library Associates. The discussion will be followed by a book-signing. |
