Georgetown University Advisory Committee on Protestant Ministries Announced
Washington, D.C. -- Rev. Philip Boroughs, S.J., Vice President for Mission and Ministry for Georgetown University today announced the formation of a University Advisory Committee to review the current resources and structures of Georgetown’s Protestant Chaplaincy and assist Georgetown’s Office of Campus Ministry in designing a future model in keeping with Georgetown values.
“This committee will assist the Office of Campus Ministry and the Protestant Chaplaincy in the development of a structure that supports the spiritual life and religious identity of our students within their respective traditions and, at the same time, promotes a religious environment that fosters ecumenical and interreligious engagement and understanding,” said Rev. Boroughs.
The committee, comprised of University faculty, Campus Ministers, students and off-campus leaders, is charged with the following tasks:
1. To review the effectiveness and identify the limitations of the current resources and structures of Campus Ministry to meet the needs of our Protestant community on campus.
2. To evaluate the relationship between Campus Ministry and Affiliated Ministries in serving the religious needs of our students and in supporting an appropriate common mission.
3. To propose alternative structures and ways of proceeding compatible with Georgetown values for the relationship between on campus and off campus ministries.
4. To assist the Protestant Chaplaincy in envisioning new forms of programming to meet the needs of our students.
The Committee will be chaired by Dr. Terrence Reynolds, Associate Professor and Chair, Theology Department. Members of the committee include:

Dr. Bruce Douglass, Co-Director Social and Political Thought Interdisciplinary Programs; Associate Professor, Government Department;
Dr. Victoria Pedrick, Associate Professor, Classics Department;
Dr. John Borelli, Special Assistant to the President on Ecumenical and Interreligious Affairs;
Rev. Timothy Godfrey, S.J., Director, Georgetown University Campus Ministry;
Rev. Constance Wheeler, Protestant Chaplain, Georgetown University Campus Ministry;
Minister LaKendra Hardware, Protestant Program Coordinator, Georgetown University Campus Ministry;
Mr. Kevin Offner, Graduate Student Advisor, InterVarsity Christian Fellowship;
Rev. Peter Lee, Asian Baptist Student Koinonia; Pastor, Berkland Baptist Church,;
Ms. Hannah Coyne, Student, Co-Leader of Chi Alpha Christian Fellowship;
Ms. Tabatha Blake, Student, President of the Protestant Student Association.
The committee may invite additional students, faculty, staff, or off campus leaders as needed to provide information or address specific issues.
